Elaine Hagen
My name is Elaine Hagen. I have been married to Layne Hagen for 16 years.
Rodeo has been a part of our lives.
I was a District Director for South Dakota NBHA #4 for five years. My husband and I along with another individual formed the Independent Barrel Racers Association (IBRA) in 2001. The past two years, we have co-sanctioned our IBRA shows with the UBRA.
I am a member of the United Methodist Church in Webster, South Dakota and am on my second round of being Treasurer.
I enjoy the sport of barrel racing and bringing quality barrel races to our area. My husband has been a calf roper, steer wrestler and team roper in his younger days and has since entered the world of senior men’s breakaway.
I look forward to working with the UBRA.
Sincerely,
Elaine Hagen

Lori Kjose
My name is Lori Kjose and I am the co-director for South Dakota. I grew up in Jefferson, South Dakota where my dad raised thoroughbred race horses and my mother hauled my sister and me all over the countryside with our show horses. I feel many of the things learned from riding other disciplines, can be carried over to barrel racing. As I grew older, I gave up the other events and focused entirely on barrel racing. Currently, I work for the US Postal Service and live in Elk Point, South Dakota. I train a few barrel horses on the side and love to watch them progress over the years.
This spring, I co-founded Blazin Barrels, LLC and am excited by the great support we’ve been given by our membership. We co-sanction all of our runs with the UBRA which is a win-win for both organizations. We also co-sanction many of our runs with the IBRA and SDBRA.
When not working or barrel racing, I can be found fishing (have to keep the husband happy), golfing or scrapbooking.
If anyone has any suggestions to make the UBRA an even better organization, please contact me. We need to hear feed back from our members to keep improving our organization.
