2008 Horse of the Year 2008 UBRA Flit N Docs Reinman "Rein" was purchased as a yearling in the costal ranges of Oregon. My sister knew his sire & convinced me he was a diamond in the rough. When I flew home & showed my husband the pictures I took of this colt he asked if I actually had to pay money for him! However, after our cross country trip to pick him up we had all bonded & I knew he would be my horse of a lifetime. He placed well in futuries in 2002 & continued to improve through 2004. He was paying his way running barrels & also showing his talent in many WSCA events. He tore a ligament in his hock playing in the pasture in March of 2005. His recovery had many challenges. I wasn't sure I would ever be able to ride him again much less run barrels. Last summer he would follow me along the fence as I pulled away with another horse in the trailer. I watched him run in the pasture & make his own turns building himself up. This past winter I decided it was time to put that leg to the test. After 3 full seasons off he is getting back to his original form. His career as a barrel horse is only part of his life. His wonderful quirky personality is well known by anyone who is around us. He lets himself in & out of gates & ties as he wishes, he talks to me whenever he isn't the center of my attention & has even been known to plead with others for treats. He is actually quite arrogant. However, he spends time each day as a therapy buddy for my daughter with cerebal palsy & has delivered hours of enjoyment to the residents of several nearby group homes for physically & mentally challenged adults. God has blessed me beyond measure with this wonderful horse & I will be forever grateful to have had him as a part of my family's life.
